Language usage that is highly technical or
occupational or designed to confuse on
purpose. In writing, jargon may be highly
formal, whereas in speech it often contains
slang expressions. Jargon is often used to
disguise unimportant information in
complicated language, to mystify certain
information, or to make information
inaccessible to those who do not know the
jargon. Jargon is often also known as
gobbledygook/gobbledegook and is
subcategorized as, for example, bureaucratese
and officialese (the usage of bureaucrats and
officials), journalese (the languages of
newspapers), and medicalese (the often
impenetrable usage of doctors), and so on.
